Narrated by Abu Huraira: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "When any human being is born. Satan touches him at both sides of the body with his two fingers, except Esa (As), the son of Mary, whom Satan tried to touch but failed, for he touched the placenta-cover instead."
It is narrated on the authority of Husain (RA) that he went to teach a man how to give greetings and said, You will say:
بَارَكَ اللَّهُ لَكَ فِي الْمَوْهُوبِ لَكَ وَشَكَرْتَ الْوَاهِبَ وَبَلَغَ أَشُدَّهُ وَرُزِقْتَ بِرَّهُ
بَارَكَ اللّٰهُ لَكَ فِى الْمَوْهُوْبِ لَكَ وَشَكَرْتَ الْوَاهِبَ وَبَلَغَ اَشُدَّهٗ وَرُزِقْتَ بِرَّهٗ
BaarakAllahu laka fil-mawhoobi laka, wa shakartal-waahiba, wa balagha 'ashuddahu, wa ruziqta birrahu.
May Allah bless you with His gift to you, and may you (the new parent) give thanks (to Allah - the giver), may the child reach the maturity of years, and may you be granted its righteousness.
It is better to give such a reply to the greeter -
بَارَكَ اللَّهُ لَكَ وَبَارَكَ عَلَيْكَ وَجَزَاكَ اللَّهُ خَيْرًا وَرَزَقَكَ اللَّهُ مِثْلَهُ وَأَجْزَلَ اللَّهُ ثَوَابَكَ
بَارَكَ اللّٰهُ لَكَ وَبَارَكَ عَلَيْكَ وَجَزَاكَ اللّٰهُ خَيْرًا وَرَزَقَكَ اللّٰهُ مِثْلَهٗ وَاَجْزَلَ اللّٰهُ ثَوَابَكَ
Baarakallahu laka wa baaraka 'alayka, wa jazaakAllahu khayran, wa razaqakAllahu mithlahu, wa 'ajzalallahu thawaabaka
May Allah bless you, and shower His blessings upon you, and may Allah reward you well and bestow upon you its like and reward you abundantly.
